Tiger Devouring a Gavial Crocodile Bronze Sculpture

This is a Hot Cast Bronze Sculpture of a Tiger devouring a Garial Crocodile which sits on a solid marble base.

In 1931 Bayre caused a sensation in the Paris Salon with this sculpture.

He was a forerunner in introducing scenes of this nature in sculpture in the 19th century.

First created by Barye, this sculpture depicts the grim determination of the tiger and the defeat of the crocodile as a reminder of how the difficult this world we live in can be.  A critic also stated that this sculpture is all the more remarkable as Barye could not have possibly witnessed this and used his imagination to create this famous and iconic sculpture.
